Leave Copenhagen behind as you head north through magnificent Danish countryside and coastline towards Elsinore and Kronborg Castle. Chosen as the setting for Shakespeare's Hamlet, this magnificent renaissance castle is on the UNESCO world heritage list.

After lunch (own expense), your tour continues towards Fredensborg, where the Queen's summer residence of Fredensborg Palace is attractively located in the middle of a lovely park, bordering the idyllic Esrum Lake.

The next highlight on your tour is Frederiksborg Castle, built by King Christian IV in 1601 - 1625. This pearl of history, built in magnificent Renaissance style with a touch of baroque, is now a national historical museum, containing treasures of painting, tapestry, porcelain, silver and furniture.

Join the Grand Tour of Copenhagen and view all the major sights of the Danish Capital by motor coach. You will pass by the Tivoli Gardens and the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek. Drive through the colorful canal district where your local guide will point out the major sites including the National Museum to Christiansborg Palace, home to the Danish Parliament.

Continue on to the old Stock Exchange and across Kongens Nytorv, where you will be able to see the Royal Theater, world-famous for its Royal Ballet. This is followed by a drive past the vibrant harbor district of Nyhavn to Amalienborg Palace, winter residence of the Royal Family. Here you will have the opportunity to see the Changing of the Guard.

Next you will visit the Gefion Fountain and the Little Mermaid, inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's fairytale. Last but not least, pay a visit to one of the many magnificent churches in Copenhagen and pass Rosenborg Castle, where the crown jewels are protected by the Royal Guard.

Your tour starts by coach, first passing the Tivoli Gardens, New Carlsberg Glyptotek (art museum) and the magnificent Gefion Fountain and Kongens Nytorv. At the old Fish Market, a pre-booked canal boat is waiting to take you on a cruise through the bustling harbor of Copenhagen.

As you glide through the bustling harbor, pass many of the wonderful towers and famous palaces in Copenhagen - not forgetting of course The Little Mermaid. Continue through the picturesque canals of Christianshavn and Frederiksholm, where historical buildings are to be enjoyed side by side with the newest in architecture. Some sights of the capital are best enjoyed from the sea, so remember your camera or video and you will have a good opportunity for an everlasting memory.

Your tour concludes in the very heart of Copenhagen at Gammel Strand, which is only a few minutes walk from Stroget, the main shopping street in the city.

Travel up to Kronburg Castle, in the city of Elsinore, where you will see the outer walls and the towers of Kronburg Castle, the historic place made famous all over the world by Shakespeare's Hamlet, it is also the most popular castle in Denmark, with about 200,000 visitors each year.

Enjoy a photostop at Fredensborg - the Queens Summer Residence. Here you will have time to explore the Castle's gardens or the small market town of Hiller?d, where the castle is perfectly situated. You will also see the beautiful town of Helsingor, with buildings dating back to the 1700's and afterwards travel back to Copenhagen via the Danish Riviera, so you can see how rich Denmark's top people really are!

The bus departs regularly from each stop and your ticket is valid for 24 hours from first use. The nearest stops to the cruise port are Stops 8 and 9, however you may board the bus at any of the stops around the city.

Board your luxury coach near Copenhagen City Hall and then sit back and relax on the drive out of the city, following the coastline into the region of Zealand. The first destination of your day is Elsinore (known locally as Helsing?r), and as you travel north along the sea-fringed roads, you?ll take in some of Denmark?s most spectacular countryside. Tear your eyes away from the golden-sand beaches to see stretches of soft green hills with pretty wooden houses breaking up the countryside.

In Elsinore, stop for a walk around the outside of Kronborg Castle -- a UNESCO World Heritage Site ? and hear about its formidable history from your guide. Once a tollhouse that was designed to terrify outsiders, the castle now has a romantic appeal, having been the setting for Shakespeare?s Hamlet.

Stroll around Kronborg Castle?s swan-filled moats, and head into Elsinore itself to admire its historical half-timbered houses and streets on a walking tour with your guide. Take a break for lunch (own expense) and then meet your guide to continue your tour by coach to Fredensborg Castle ? the summer residence of the Danish royal family. Stop for photos in front of the castle with Lake Esrum as your backdrop, and then hop back on board your coach.

Nearby is the small market town of Hiller?d, and you'll visit it next to see magnificent Frederiksborg Castle. The building gives the town an undeniable wow factor, with many a visitor referring to it as the ?Nordic Versailles.? Explore the castle?s different gardens ? one designed in French Baroque style and another in the form of a quintessential English garden ? while learning about the castle?s history from your guide.

Head back to Copenhagen in the late afternoon, finishing your tour at the start point.

Hear tales of kings Frederik II and Christian IV, who made the castle their home, while admiring the jaw-droppingly lovely interior.

Explore rooms like the Coronation Chapel and the extravagant Riddeshalen banquet hall, before passing through the Marble Gallery, seeing its marble arches dripping with ornamentation. The castle?s grounds are equally spectacular and its French Baroque-style gardens can easily vie for star status. Soak it all up on a walk around outside, following in the footsteps of Danish royalty.

Leave the castle in the early afternoon and take a break in Hiller?d for lunch (own expense), before traveling by coach to Fredensborg Castle, set on the shore of Lake Esreum. Stop for photos outside the Italian Baroque castle, hearing of its use as a summer home for the Danish royal family, and then continue your journey south to the town of Elsinore (Helsing?r).

Spend time at leisure in the town, perhaps visiting the UNESCO-listed Kronborg Castle (own expense), where Shakespeare?s Hamlet was set. Alternatively, explore the town itself, admiring its delightful Gothic churches and historical houses.

Return to Copenhagen in the late afternoon, finishing your tour at the start point.

Follow the coastline from Copenhagen to Elsinore, passing through fashionable resorts and beautiful residential areas. Crossing the narrow strait between Elsinore and Helsingborg by ferry, you will get a great opportunity for a fantastic view of Hamlet's Castle - Kronborg - from the sea. The voyage across the Sound takes approximately 20 minutes.

Once you have arrived in Sweden, you will drive through the city of Helsingborg, before continuing to Lund. Lund is a university city from the middle ages - founded in 990 by the Danish King Svend Tveforkbeard (986-1014). The city was the religious, cultural and commercial centre of Scandinavia until the Reformation. Visit the Cathedral, which has a magnificent 14th century astronomical clock and the famous University of Lund. Enjoy a lunch stop en route (not included in the tour price).

Continue to Malmo, the biggest city in Scandinavia and the third largest in the whole of Sweden. Here you make a short sightseeing stop. On the way back to Denmark, cross the Sound once again, but this time on the magnificent Oresund bridge from Malmo to Copenhagen.
